Proud Sponsors of the Northumberland Soccer Club

House League Soccer provides players with opportunity to play for enjoyment, participation, to make friends and to develop a healthy life style.  House League is the perfect program for those who have never played or just enjoy getting out to have fun! The emphasis in practices is soccer skills. Each week there is a practice at 6:00 pm and a game at 6:30 pm. Our recreational division season is 12 weeks long, starts the end of May, and runs until August.

The development program is for players who are interested in the next level of soccer. These teams have 1-2 dedicated practice nights as well as a game night. Teams play in the DSL (Durham Soccer League) and have a 50/50 split of home and way games. Skill development is the primary goal for these age brackets. The emphasis is still FUN. All players play equal time and try all team positions, including goalkeeping.

Competitive teams practice typically 2 nights a week and have a dedicated game night. Teams play in the DSL (Durham Soccer League) and have a 50/50 split of home and away games. Teams now play 11 v 11 on full size fields with 90-minute games.

Indoor Soccer is a fun and fast-paced game played either in a local gym (U5-U9) or on indoor turf (U11 to adult). A smaller net is used and the ball may be played off the walls. This is a game of constant transition so players are always actively involved in the game. This game really improves a players touch on the ball as well as ball handling skills. Games are 2 twenty-five minute halves with substitutions allowed at any point in the game.

Another inspirational story to end the week! This is Nadia Nadim. She was born in Afghanistan. Her father was murdered by the Taliban when she was 11 years old and her family fled to Denmark on the back of a truck. Nadia has scored almost 200 goals in professional football and represented the Danish national team 98 times. She's completed medical school and is studying to become a reconstructive surgeon when her playing days are over. She speaks 11 languages fluently and is on the Forbes list of Most Powerful Women in International Sports. If you want to show your daughter a role model, show her Nadia Nadim.... not the Kardashians.Credit: Donal Greene for this piece.Reminder: The opinions and views in posts shared on this page are not always aligned with mine.
